Haiti Disaster Relief Accomodations - Update
One week has passed since the Haiti earthquake and our attempts to offer Out-N-Aboat to the disaster relief. We have contacted several Haiti NGO's and relief organizations with some responses. Several people have contacted us desperately looking for rides into the disaster capital of Port-Au-Prince and other volunteers both sailors and those looking to help in what ever way they can.
With the aid organizations we have contacted and the data lists we have posted to offer our assistance, we hope it won't be long before we can obtain permission to enter the disaster zone and officially offer our help. We, like so many, thought we could simply go there and offer assistance, however the port authorities won't let just anyone enter without some official business. I guess I understand, you don't want those trying to help ending up needing assistance themselves. The greatest concern of anyone looking for accommodations is the safety and security. That is what makes Out-N-Aboat perfect for Haiti aid relief. Mooring her accommodations and provissions just offshore can provide aid workers the safety and security they need.
We will keep you posted as to our progress. Thanks to those organizations ie. Scott (USAID), Gail (ODP/PSA) and Chuck (Le Plaza Haiti) in Port-Au-Prince for their continued assistance.
Our prayers and thoughts are always with those people of Haiti and the disaster relief workers from doctors, nurses, engineers from the 30+ countries
now providing aid relief.
