Haiti Disaster Relief Accomodations
We have decided to offer Out-N-Aboat to the Haiti disaster relief for the much needed accomodations. What little infrastructure was there prior to the earthquake has been damaged. Access over land is almost impossible. All flight access is controlled and restricted. Many hotels and accomodations are destroyed and the options for the disaster relief are limited. Those buildings that did not completely fall are damaged and not safe. Both chaos and frustration is on the rise as disaster relief to needed areas of Port-Au-Prince is slow in coming. We see all the international resources arriving at the airport and sea port. Everyone is frustrated as they see the roads impassable for large relief trucks, and the loading docks in port damaged so ships can't unload their relief supplies. We have had some requests to pick up people who are unable to get into p-au-p and other media enguiries for accomodations while moored offshore. As we prepare and provission for the trip, we will contact those organizations needing accomodation and safe harbour in p-au-p while providing disaster relief - as we have the ability to provide assistance and relief for aid workers and media. We speak French so communications shouldn't be too difficult. We are also organizing to bring medical supplies with us. We will have 24hr security onboard Out-N-Aboat. We'll update our progress from time to time. We welcome sailors with all skill levels who wish to join us ...
